Promoting Survivor-Centered Policing In Nigeria

While Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) is prevalent in Nigeria, inadequate response mechanisms deny survivors the needed access to survivor-centred services and support. In late 2020, Partners West Africa Nigeria (PWAN) published the report of a study we carried out on the impact of the lockdown across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria on Women; one of the findings showed that the lockdown exacerbated existing vulnerabilities to VAWG.

In 2022, with support from the FORD Foundation, Partners Global, Partners West Africa – Nigeria and Partners West Africa Senegal conducted another study on the Promoting Survivor-Centered Policing in West Africa project. The study was aimed at improving the capacity of policing agencies responsible for responding to sexual gender-based violence to reduce the incidences. Partners West Africa – Nigeria focused on Nigeria, particularly in Akwa Ibom, Benue, Borno, Enugu, Kano, Ogun states, and the FCT
